A couple little things I’ve been working on...

Happy Tuesday everyone! I have a couple little DIY project’s I’ve been puttering at over the last couple weeks. One of them turned out so cute I just had to share it with you all. I had been looking for a little shelf for Roman’s room. My sister-in-law gave him his name in big block letters as a baby gift and I really wanted a nice way to display them, they are soooo cute (Thanks, Kiley!). I looked online and found a couple ledge type shelves, nothing really screamed “buy me!” and then wouldn’t you know it I came across the cutest one in a thrift store the other day! To the tune of $4.95 (and about a $3 can of spray paint) the little shelf came home with me and now fits perfectly in Rome’s little room!

I also was working on a tank top for Disney’s ruffle your stuff contest. I had a hot pink tank (thanks Renée!!)given to me that, after wearing once, I had stained down the front and it. Sounds about right, and it didn’t look like the stain was going to come out. So I added a bib of pink polka dot ruffles and some buttons on it and called it “new” again, it turned out not too bad.

The pink tank has definitely inspired me to tweak some of my old clothes to make them “new again” too, like the white strapless tank. I never wore it because I am not blessed with large chest to keep it up, and I’m always scared that my son is going to be climbing on me and I’ll have a Britney Spears moment (wait, wasn’t that....no...I’m pretty sure she’s had a shirt failure too...ok...). So I added some shiny buttons and straps from the cute ribbon that was once around the waist, ét voila! A whole new top!

Lastly, I have to tell you all about my pleasant surprise last night while I was tying up some loose ends in the office. I had forgot all about an article I had submitted to DivineCaroline the other day (well, to be honest it must have been weeks ago by now) and thought I’d check on the status of it, see if it was published or not. Well, wouldn’t you know it, sure enough it had been published for almost a week without little old me ever being the wiser. But even more surprising, it made the Top Stories in Gardening feature on their Gardening homepage.
Well hot dog!! I’m among some pretty seasoned writers for the site and pretty flattered that my first article for them is a top story! Wowie!! But enough gloating, its really not a good look on anyone.
And just so you all don’t think I live a perfectly charmed life...I did make a big oopsie the other day. You may remember my Gardening in March article I published the other day on Project K, well, while my WONDERFUL husband so graciously offered to take photos of me for the article, somehow in all the commotion that day, we forget to bring the camera inside. It wasn’t until I began to work on the post later that night that I remembered where it was...on my car hood, that was also covered in rain from the torential downpour we had suddenly! I can’t complain about the rain, my fern transplants really needed it, but I’ll sure complain about the Mummy mush brain I’m suffering from! Not to worry, the ol’ Canon Elph is still pumping out the pictures, but the digital screen is a little fuzzy. Oh well, what do you do?! I hope you all are having a fab Tuesday! Don’t forget to sign up for the Spring Gardening Giveaway, contest closes Saturday, March 21!
