After having my son, I wanted to loose the baby weight and get back to my regular old self. I began running, thinking, PRAYING, that this surely would raise my heart rate and I’d be shedding the pounds in no-time. I even began practising yoga before and after a run, good plan right? After about two months of exercising regularly and seeing no results, I gave up.
My sister-in-law was starting a new diet, one where you only eat what is recommended for your specific blood type. I began to take notice what was making me feel gross after I ate it. Another girlfriend of mine’s naturopath suggested she keep a food journal, recording what she ate and how she felt afterwards, another good idea. I found a book through the Fraser Valley Regional Library, called “Eat Right 4 Your Type” by Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo. I read it in about 35 minutes and immediately went to the store to buy soy milk, cheese. I thought to myself “Am I really going to drink soy milk, eat tofu and avoid ham altogether? am I crazy? I LOVE proscuitto!”
Well, I don’t know 100% if I didn’t loose weight before because a. I was nursing my son or b.I was eating the wrong foods; but something definitely changed when I started introducing new foods to my diet and eliminating sugar, dairy, and red meat. I also began to introduce fresh (as opposed to preserved) fruits and vegetables into my diet. I’m blood type A, and no I’m not going to list everything an A can and can’t eat, you can find that here. What I can tell you is that I’m not nearly as tired and lethargic as I was, and my weight loss to date has been 8lbs in 2 weeks. With only 5lbs left to return to my pre-pregnancy weight, I’m sure the last five will come off just as easily if I continue to eat right and get back into practising yoga. I think the combination of eating for my blood type and eliminating lots of preservatives in my diet has attributed to my weight loss. I would like to point out that I do NOT stick to this diet to the letter, I give myself one cheat day a week, I find if I didn’t cheat here and there, I would fall off the wagon all together.
